Dowsing at Curto Park

New Alexandria, Dowsing demonstration, Feedback session
Saturday, July 17, 10 - noon, Curto Park
Zachary has completed his project of dowsing for the ley lines in Curto Park and has mapped the water and magnetic lines he has found. This is an opportunity to see what he has been up to and ask him questions. If you've been to the park while he's been there you know how engaging and fascinating his work is. RSVP if you plan to come. Lunch will be provided. This session for friends and volunteers will lead up to a public presentation he will give at the STUDIO next week. (Details below.)

New Alexandria has created a map of Curto Park using the art of dowsing, an age old practice used to locate underground water for wells and irrigation. It can also be used to reveal information about any flow or feature of the Earth, such as geological faults, magnetic field variations, and the connection between geographic areas and what people have built there. In ancient times this data was used to determine when and where crops were planted, community events took place, and structures built.

According to Stark Jones, dowsing Curto Park allows him to create a roadmap of the environmental rhythms that influence the growth of its vegetative, mental and social landscape. Stark Jones said, "Studying these rhythms pushes the edges of scientific awareness and allows the work to meld the role people play as artists with that of researchers."
